PNB Pays Rs.236.91
Crore Dividend to GOI

Rs.236.91 crore to P.Chidambaram, Hon’ble Finance
Minister, Govt. of India.
J.M. Garg, Executive Director and S. Ranganathan,
General Manager of the Bank were also present on the
occasion. |

This amount of Rs.236.91 crores is the annual dividend of
130% paid to the Govt. of India for the financial year 2007-08
as compared to Rs.182.24 crore as 100% dividend paid during
the previous financial year i.e. 2006-07.
PNB has achieved significant growth in total business which
at the end of June 2008 was Rs 2,87,504 crore registering a
growth of 20.7% y-o-y basis. During the FY 2007-08, Low Cost
Deposits of the Bank (CA & SF Deposits) was 42.99% of the
total deposits which continued to be one of the highest
amongst the nationalised banks, the bank also achieved a net
profit of Rs 2,048 crore, which is highest amongst the
nationalised banks. The bank’s Return on Assets was 1.15%. Its
ratio of Priority Sector Credit to Net Bank Credit at 44.11%
of Adjusted Net Credit and Agriculture Credit to Net Bank
Credit at 18.94% of Adjusted Net Credit was also higher than
the respective national goals of 40% & 18%.
PNB has always looked at technology as a key facilitator to
provide better customer service especially to youth segment,
bank has implemented CBS in its 4353 service outlets at 2163
centres, covering 92.52% of its business to facilitate
"anytime, anywhere" banking to its clients. The bank has also
been offering Internet banking services to the customers of
CBS branches like booking of Railway and Air tickets, payment
of utility bills, transfer of funds through RTGS & NEFT
facilities, online share trading facility etc. With 4601
Offices including 292 extension counters, the Bank has the
largest network of offices amongst the nationalised Banks in
the country.
Bank has already declared Year 2008, as 'Year of Financial
Inclusion' for providing banking facilities, at a fair cost,
to a vast majority of low income population, which is deprived
of these facilities. As at 30.06.2008, the bank has opened
7.98 lac "No Frill" accounts with an outstanding balance of
Rs.151 crore. Overdraft facility has also been extended in
7,751 accounts. The bank has also issued 26,793 General Credit
Cards amounting to Rs.48.6 crore.
